Travelling and Arriving.

We looked at the opening for The Breakfast Club to look at different modes of transport for the characters to arrive at school in and what kind of transport were used in the 1980s.

The majority of the students arrive at the school in cars, with the exception of the person who walks.

The first car we see is a BMW, which is quite a stylish car and shows the girl in the car comes from a wealthy background as her dad is the one who is driving her. Before she exits the car the girl asks her dad why he couldn't get her out of detention, this shows he has influence over people.

The next car we see is quite a run down car, it's not as shiny as the first car the audience sees which implies the character may come from a poorer background, compared to the girl in the BMW. The paint job on the car looks dirty and the licence plate looks faded as well.
The next car we see is a station wagon type of car that the jock of the group arrives in. His dad is also present in the car and is being told to "be a real man" which implies the character's dad is superior to him in masculinity.

The next character of the group we see doesn't arrive in a car, he arrives on foot and by himself. The characters who have arrived in cars so far have had their parents with them whereas he is just on his own.  This shows his confidence in himself, so much that a car nearly collides with him and he doesn't care.

The last character we see exits the car that almost runs over the 'rebel' of the characters. She goes to talk to whoever is driving but they drive away without saying anything to her. This implies she has a rough relationship with whoever was driving and they don't care about her.

For the film I will be making, I will have to use screenshots of the cars from The Breakfast Club as cars aren't available to everyone in my group.
Other kinds of transport that are available in London include buses, trains, bikes and walking.
