Gizem Kirdagli teen movie.

What is a teen film in your opinion and who are the targeted audience?

A teen film is a film that strongly appeals to a young group of audience, especially teens in this case. Teen films attract the interest of teens such as; First love, rebellion, conflict with parents and everyday problems within their lives.
The themes that may be demonstrated in Teen movies may be things like; Love, Hate, Conflict, obeying the rules, money and music.

Typical locations found in a home envirnment are; Living room, (shows family gatherings, representing relationship with the parents and carers) and bedrooms (which could convey the teen's attitudes to the environment.)

The typical things we may find in a teen movie (stereotypes) are things like:

1) The ugly hot girl.
The girl who has glasses and is artsy and is not popular, but when the jock gets into a bet to see if he can change her, she takes off her glasses, shakes out her hair, and she's suddenly hot.

2) The perfect prom/dance scene
All the dances in teen movies are perfectly choreographed.

3) The main actress who has a best friend that's completely in love with her, but she doesn't see it and talks about other guys with the her guy friend.

4)having one black character

5) Sexually over the top - i.e. the whip cream bikini, Shannon Elizabeth change scene in American Pie, etc.

What are some of the key locations found in Teen movies?

Typical locations found in a school are things like; Canteen, (where teens will be socialising) Girls toilets, (where the drama tends to take place within the good and the bad.) Stair cases, (representing loneliness) and the classroom is also another typical environment we may come across, as school denotes 'education'.

Typical locations found in a sports location are things like; A gym, swimming pool, race tracks. These typical environments all relate to the topic 'sports' which reveal the character's interests and hobbies, this gives us extra background information about a certain character's life of within what their likes and dislikes are.

The typical 'hang out' locations for teens seen in a teen movie are; Street corners, (which may suggest stereotypes of people that are up to no good) Parks, (where friends and family may be gathered for a picnic or so) Cinemas, ( connotations of romance as couples may like to enter a cinema for a date) and Shopping centres (where girls in particular are seen in teen movies.)
