3 different teen movies

All teen movies have similar typical conventions, however, depending on the genre, they are all going to be different in some way. For example, different stereotypes, types of characters and story line. In this blog post i will focus on these three different films : Anuvahood, High School musical and The Simpsons movie.

ANUVAHOOD

This movie is a typical urban movie however, it's a romanticised version with a comedy twist. This therefore means it relies heavily on stereotypes and this is the focus of the main characters, the stereotypes are then exaggerated to appeal to comedy movie fans. 

There are different genres in the film and this helpful to appeal to most ages (especially teenagers) but also both genders. As it's an urban themed, typical suburban London type of film it will easily relate to those who are surrounded in this type of settings. So this film will appeal specifically to teenagers in London. There have been previous film that have the same suburban London setting, including Kidulthood and Adulthood which both starred Adam Deacon. These movies were both hits with the target audience, as Adam Deacon was part of these films and was part of the main cast, he would easily appeal to a comedy version of those films as well making this movie more appealing to the audience. This movie is different to films such as Kidulthood because it focuses more on comedy rather than the serious reality of suburban life for teenagers in London. 

The storyline is also very appealing, it's complex. Typical teenager using music to create a career however, dealing with friends, women, family life etc. The different story lines also introduce different sub-genres such a romance into the film which will then appeal to a wider audience. 

High School Musical 

High school musical is a typical American high school type of film which focuses on the different lives of popular teens of the high school, the not so popular kids of the high school and how different their lives are, but ultimately they all come together. The fact that it's a musical appeals to a wider audience, different music genres will be specific to the various characters which appeal to the audience. The typical story line of the film is a boy meets girl film. 

As a Walt Disney film, it will automatically appeal to a very wide audience and previously famous disney stars such as Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu also feature in this film.

The Parent Trap

The parent trap is a very unique film which will then easily appeal to younger children, including teenagers. It focuses on the typical mischievous side of a child and really brings a playful side of a child which is very attractive for the target audience, because it easily relates to their lives and allows them to experience this visually.

The parent trap is also unique as it's set realistically rather than in a fantasy way which is also appealing for the audience and easily reflects their lives and typical features such a divorce in family, etc. creates a connection with the characters.

The film also features a range of genres such as family which reflects a realistic view of the time, romance, comedy,etc.

There is also a unique story line, it's not a very typical story line, making it very unique for the audience and a new experience for them also.
