Three Teen Movies

Teen films is a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults and the plot is based on interests of teenagers. Teen movies usually have similar elements and conventions that are presented in different ways. stereotypes, story lines and types of characters are duplicate throughout different teen movies.

I am going to look at three types of teen movies: Bullet Boy, The Inbetweeners movie and Passport to Paris.

Bullet Boy

This is a crime and drama teen movie and it would appeal to the urban teenagers of both genres. This is because it is set in the rough, urban area in east London and follows a young man living in that area of violence, rivalry, revenge and hierarchy. This will appeal to the teens that may be going through the same thing and the teens that are aware of these situations. Ashley Walters is the main character in the film and he will appeal to the same audience as he is involved with films and TV shows like this; he recently starred in channel 4's Drama, Top Boy. He was also in an urban music group called the So Solid Crew.

The Inbetweeners Movie

This film follows four socially troubled 18 year-old's from south England and the misadventures on a holiday to Malia in Crete, when they finish sixth form together. I also currently marks the end of the Inbetweeners TV series. This is a comedy that related to older teenagers of both genres as it portrays freedom after the leaving compulsory schooling. The four main characters are the same characters from the

TV series so a fan base was already created. The TV series was set in school showing us some real issues and situations in school but in a humorous way and we follow four boys who aren't cool and desperately want to be. It is relatable by all teens as you were either on of the boys or knew someone like them.

Passport to Paris

Passport to Paris is a teen film about to thirteen year old girls who are sent to their grandfather in Paris who is the US ambassador of France and they expect to have fun they are given a no-nonsense chaperone. When they meet two French boys they finally start to love France. This teen movie falls under the genre of family, comedy and romance and it appeals to teenage girls. This is because they are obsessed with

social popularity, their friends, boys and adventures, just like most teen girls are like. Therefore the main characters are relatable. Also, Mary-Kate and Ashley are established teen and family movie stars so this would have attracted teenage girls to the movie too.
